随着城市化的持续快速推进，人口流动成为我国社会科学界长盛不衰的研究课题。沿海大城市是流动人口的汇集地，流动人口在这里工作、生活，见证了城市的成长、繁盛，分享着现代文明的成果，也体验着异地生存的艰辛。与此同时，城市也因流动人口而有了新的能力、新的秩序、新的价值，适应高流动性成为新时期城市社会管理的新需要。为了检视近期相关研究的新成果，思考和交流新时期流动人口与城市社会的互动、互适关系，华东师范大学中国现代城市研究中心拟与有关研究机构合作，于2008年12月在上海召开“人口流动与城市适应”学术研讨会。有关事项通知如下。

    鉴于流动人口问题的广泛关联性，会议的名称及我们所列的主题仅是为论文应征者提供一个参考，我们欢迎有兴趣的研究者、管理者、实践者就流动人口有关的理论、实践、管理及政策等广泛问题提交论文。
论文摘要及全文的提交与录用：
1、  参加会议人员需向主办方提交论文。论文摘要提交截止时间为2008年10月31日。摘要应包括论文题目、作者姓名、单位、联系方式、摘要正文、关键词（3－5个）。摘要字数在500字左右，文件格式为MS Word。
2、  论文全文提交截止时间为2008年11月28日。论文全文应包括论文题目、作者姓名、所在机构、摘要、关键词、全文与参考文献。中文论文请附英文摘要及关键词。
3、  请通过电子邮件将摘要与全文以附件形式发送到：jyu@mail.ecnu.edu.cn。
4、  大会组委会将组织对收到的论文进行审核，符合会议主题和学术规范的论文的第一作者将被作为本次会议邀请的正式代表。
5、  大会组委会将对入选论文进行编辑整理，会前印刷论文集。未公开发表的论文，经作者同意，会后将由主办方结集出版。
会议资助：
1、  会议不收取注册费；
2、  参会者交通费自理；
3、  正式代表会议期间的餐费由主办方承担；
4、  外地正式代表会议期间的住宿由主办方提供和安排。

The Floating Population and Urban Life Adaptation
Shanghai, 12-13 December 2008

Call for Papers
     With the ongoing urbanization in China, floating population has become an enduring research subject in social sciences. Spatially, the floating population is mostly concentrated in coastal cities, where they work, live, witness the growth and prosperity of the cities, share the achievements of modern civilization, and experience the hardships of life away from home. Meanwhile, thanks to the floating population, the cities have acquired new abilities and formed new orders and new values. Adapting to high mobility has become a new necessity for urban social management in our time. To provide a platform for exchanging the latest research progress in this field, and to explore the interactive relation between the floating population and cities, the Center for Modern Chinese City Studies, East China Normal University (ECNU), will host the Conference on The Floating Population and Urban Life Adaptation in Shanghai on 12-13 December 2008, in cooperation with several academic institutes.

Paper Submission:
             1. Potential participants should submit a paper and abstract to jyu@mail.ecnu.edu.cn as attachments. The abstract needs to be submitted before 31 October 2008. It should include the title of the paper, name of author, affiliation, e-mail, telephone and fax numbers, abstract, key words, in MS Word format.
             2. The paper needs to be submitted to jyu@mail.ecnu.edu.cn as attachments before 28 November 2008, including the title of the paper, name of author, affiliation, abstract, key words, full text and references, in MS Word format.
             3. The organizing committee will review the papers and invite selected participants to participate in the conference as official delegates.
             4. A conference proceeding will be printed before the conference. Selected papers will be published after the conference with permission of the authors.
Costs and funding:
             1. There is no registration fee.
             2. Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.
             3. Meals will be provided during the conference to all official delegates.
             4. Free accommodation will be provided to official delegates from outside Shanghai.
